Guitar Hammer-On and Pull-Off

Searching the forum I have found that hammer-on and pull-off can be indicated with slurs and stave text. Is there a way of adjusting the note hammered/pulled so that it has less attack in the sound output compared to the plucked note? I've tried changing the dynamics but that seems to change all notes in the measure from the hammered note onwards.
