Old style bass clef
This is a purely cosmetic request. I'm a fan of the old style of bass clef. Here's a link to what I'm talking about:
It would be nice to be able to select this as the bass clef used in my scores in Musescore.

With some effort, you can use your posted image (index.png) and add it to your finished score after making the regular bass clef invisible. Open attachment below in MuseScore.

I would like to have custom clefs available to avoid needing to work around on every staff. Either, let the user only replace existing clefs with another symbol, or assign a symbol and then define where middle C is.

Not with glyphs that are not available in SMuFL, check http://www.smufl.org/version/latest/range/clefs/

OK, but it is not in Bravura (nor Gonville or Emmentaler). Or for some strange reason left out from the symbols palette

Yes, I think the OP's best bet would be to find another musical symbols font that uses the old-style bass clef (or make one him-/herself).

Not sure, I believe it got to be included in Bravura, otherwise it wouldn't be shown on https://w3c.github.io/smufl/gitbook/tables/clefs.html
So we'd need to find out why we're not listening it in the Symbols palette

By "recommended" it could mean that it is not currently in the font but has been recommended to add in the future.

Except for a couple of historical exceptions, stylistic alternates are not listed in the master symbol palette.

So it does exist in the font. I guess it wouldn't be to hard to add.

It's in the font? I went looking and I can't even find the fonts for MuseScore in my computer. They're not with the other ones. At any rate, I think this could be added to the clef palette easily, and that's where it should be. I've used symbols from the Master Palette a few times, and it's always clunky and often non-functional. This form of the bass clef isn't uncommon in some contexts, and I can't believe it'd be used less than the sub-bass clef, the alternate baritone clef (which is an F clef on the 3rd line), or the 15mb bass clef.

It's not that it's used less, it's that it's redundant. (I also happen to like it though, and would use it if it was there.) I guess a sub-bass clef is also redundant as it is exactly the same as a treble 15mb clef and so is the alternate baritone so maybe your point is valid. The fonts Musescore users are Bravura, Gonville, and Emmentaler by the way.

MuseScore fonts are indeed not installed on your computer but built right into the application.
MuseScoreNightly-2018-07-27-1047-master-44debd7 has all the "recommended stylistic alternates".

No it doesn't. It only has the following ones

Sorry, I was so excited that I didn't look thoroughly. Neither is there every clef for every clef symbol (e.g. no F clef 19th century Baritone). But at least @barlitone's request has been fulfilled.
