I suspect you wanted a triplet with eighth notes. To get this press 5 (for a quarter note) then ctrl+3 to turn it into a triplet of eighth notes. You have pressed 4 (for an eighth note) then pressed ctrl+3 to get a triplets of 16th notes. To help understand how to decide what you need to do, decide how long the FULL triplet lasts, press that duration, then ctrl+3. A triplet of 8th notes takes one full beat to play. If you need more help, then clarify what you mean.
