Muted Instruments
Does MuseScore have the facility for muting instruments on playback?
In particular, the French Horn?

I believe this is available only for trumpet. Only for that there is a sound defined in General MIDI, and as such available in GM Soundfonts.
So use trumpet as the instrument, change name to French horn and use staff text and it's properties to switch sound, see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/mixer#mid-staff-change
You can look at https://sites.google.com/view/hed-sounds/aegean-symphonic-orchestra for a sound font that includes most muted brass which was made by a MuseScore user.
