Manual realtime input

Having used Musicator for many years, which doesn't work for me any more, I found the allmost similar input method on Musscore: Step write or Manual realtime input. Only on Musicator the first note is first part of ex four fourt notes. On Musecore it seems to me, that I have to count press 1 then 1234 to get the last note.
On Musicator I played first note (1) and then 2 3 4 with the curser (on Musescore 'enter')
Am I wrong, if I feel that realtime input 'flotes' better this way or could it be adapted or fixed in Musescore
That would really make my day :-)
