Bar numbering

I have noticed that the bar following (e.g.) the second time bar of an eight bar repeated section is numbered 10, instead of 9.
It seems that the second time bar is treated as bar 9, whereas it is actually a substitute for bar 8. Example attached.
I have not yet found a means of adjusting the numbering system, and wondered it anyone out there can help.
