Eight note rhythms are played back as dotted rhythms

• Dec 2, 2018 - 19:25

This is a weird bug that has happened to me randomly a few times. Sometimes when I write eight note rhythms, they are played back as dotted eighth note rhythms, and this is also indicated in the BBT. This can happen at any time in the score but tend to happen after a tempo change. This can be heard in my score https://musescore.com/emperoni/gran-jota-de-concierto if you compare eight note playback prior to and after bar 88. Does anyone know why this occurs and how I can fix it?

It seems to play back correctly to me. The only difference I see eighth notes is that in the section before measure 88, the 8th notes are in triplets and there are 3 to a beat by definition while after measure 88 they are not part of triplets and there are 2 to a beat by definition. Hiding the 3 does not affect playback, it's still a triplet and is and should be played this way.

Feel free to expound if I'm missing something.

Your staff text VI in that bar turns on swing playback with a ratio of 60%

Right-click it (Ctrl-click on Mac) to be able to open up the staff text properties; open the last tab (swing settings) and put the radio button selection to Off
