In a linked bass tab, the time signature does not appear. It does appear for guitars. The time signature is custom.

Actually tried making another project, same thing happens, also for banjo.
This is correct - the default "standard" tablature styles don't show rhythms or time signatures. If you want to show these, choose one of the other tablature styles (common or full), or use Staff Properties to enable the time signature display in your current style.
Except I was already doing that, and the other two tabulature styles don't make it appear. On other guitars it works just as expected.
I see, those particular presets do indeed omit the time signature option. But you can still add it in staff properties.
