I am assuming you want to remove a measure/bar completely and make your piece shorter by that bar. This is Tools | Timewise Delete. On Windows this is Ctrl+Delete. On a Mac perhaps you need Option+Delete and not Command+Delete. But check in the menu, the necessary key combination is shown next to the menu item.
