Where to begin? It may be easier to just tell us what you want to write.
Disadvantages: manuscript paper doesn't come a handbook
Advantages: have you seen the scores written on this site? at MuseScore.com, too? Looking professional, no?
You do not have to erase, cross out and start over.
On hot humid summer days the app does not stick to your forearm.
You can edit, add, remove, reorder, re-orchestrate without an eraser, but with a few clicks.
You can hear what you are doing.
You can transpose with a few clicks.
You can eventually shape the sound you want with soundfonts.
You can export your file to another format, to another place, person, You Tube, etc
Folks can see your work if you so choose. You don't have to mail it.
Music from the Middle Ages to Modern is written here in all types. Classical, Jazz, Pop, etc Everything from symphony orchestra to solo accordion.
If you do not understand the app at first, someone here will help you.
You can still write on manuscript if you prefer (as I do) and copy to the app.

BTW - I understand your concern. I still like manuscript paper. I've done it that way for years. I do not miss copying parts (the app does it for you), nor do I miss copying a script score neatly with ink. This is a new ball game that offers you a faster, better outcome.
