Mac OS X versions older than 10.12 are not currently supported (that might change in the future).
The website suggests otherwise and that's misleading.

Fixed. Thanks again for reporting.
Fixed by not claiming it to be compatible with maxOS 10.8, but not by providing a version that runs there, which won't happen IIRC (but I think a version for 10.10 and later might be possible, once a certain bug in Qt 5.9 got fixed, hopefully in Qt 5.9.8)
