Soundfont is played back too soft

I had extracted a DS soundfont to use for some original compositions, and it sounds just like the DS's speakers when tested on Polyphone, but once I imported the font into Musescore all the harsher tones had been "smoothed out" (for lack of a better term). Anything I should change in preferences?
