Musescore 3.0.2. sometimes crashes when not opening file

Sorry for the lack of details. I'm trying to determine how to replicate this.

Yesterday, I was noticing that I couldn't open musescore 3.0.2 on Windows 10 64 bit. it would show the splash screen, then close out. This was not an issue with musescore 2.

However, I noticed that when i opened a musescore file directly, rather than opening musescore first, then opening a file, it opened normally.

I have it set to open last session. So I'm thinking the bug is that sometimes musescore's tracking of what the last session is gets corrupted - but I don't know how to test that hypothesis because I can't replicate why 3.0.2 would do that.
