Orchestral Pad issue (MuseScore General Full.sf2 and MuseScore General Full.sf3)
Hi, Gang!!!
I use MuseScore 3.0.2, Portable AppImage, in Ubuntu Studio 18.04.1 LTS (64 bit Linux).
I use the MuseScore General Full.sf3, but this issue is exactly the same with the sf2 version of this soundfont file.
If you listen my "wonderful" piece attached (Extreme Frequencies Test), you can hear the issue in the extreme notes E8, F8, G8, A8, B8 and C9.
Those very extreme notes sound like... With a monkey chattering as background.
That is the typical bad MP3 compression audio artifacts. But... Are the used samples in that soundfont file original MP3 compressed???
OK, OK, OK!!! I know nobody uses those frequencies at all. BUT... It shouldn't be this way. It is, at least... "Weird".
Please... Why not to try to fix it to the next upgrading of this soundfont file???
Blessings and Greetings from Chile!!!
JUAN

What you are hearing are aliasing artifacts caused by FluidSynth performing such an extreme transposition of the strings sample. New, lower-bitrate samples would have to be manufactured to get around this, but it's hard to warrant the additional effort and memory consumption to support notes that are not realistically going to be used.

I have now capped the upper key limit for "Orchestral Pad" to C8 (where C4=middle C) since the samples clearly do not like being transposed so high. This change will be present in version 0.1.6 of the SoundFont, which has been renamed to "MuseScore_General_HQ.sf2".

In the upcoming MuseScore version 3.1. Or here. Or you could just not play notes higher than C8 in Orchestral Pad and get the same effect ;)
EDIT: updated SoundFont link

Currently the 3.1 Beta (still in preparation) is on an earlier version of that soundfont, v0.1.5, see 90ac531

Oh, man!!! It is very great improvement!!! Thank you so much!!!
BUT... I have some questions:
1) Isn't possible to fix the Pipe Organ basses attack time? It is not an issue only related with this soundfont file. All soundfont files I tested is the same: Pipe Organ basses attack time is too long, producing a very annoying delay (as it was out of time, as the note was produced after the others). Can you fix it, please? ???
2) Can you add (in some new bank) a Gong (Tam Tam) sound, please? ???
Thanks a lot for your time!!!

For some good organ sounds see https://www.polyphone-soundfonts.com/en/files/11-organs/100-jeux-14
I love that this one has lots of different stop options.
