MuseScore 3.0.4 in 64 bit Linux

• Feb 28, 2019 - 15:06

Hi, Gang!!!

I downloaded the last MuseScore upgrading (3.0.4 AppImage), in my installation, which is Ubuntu Studio 18.04.1 LTS (64 bit Linux).

Even the fact that some issues was fixed, I can confirm a regression: I DON'T HAVE ANY SOUND THE FIRST TIME I OPEN THE PROGRAM!

I have to perform a very weird and annoying workaround:

1) Open MuseScore 3.0.4.

2) Open the "Preferences" menu, tab "Input/Output".

3) Click on the "Restart Audio and MIDI Devices" button.

4) Click "OK".

5) Open a file.

Then, and only then, I get sound!!!

BUT... The cursor is "out-of-synchronization" (I have to move the mouse around the screen to get the cursor moves "in-synchro").

This behaviour didn't happen with the previous upgrading (the version of the Piano sound to all instruments).

SO... "Houston, we have a problem!"

I'm not a programmer, but... I guess there is some variable between the mixer and the audio/MIDI devices MuseScore interface which is not playing a "fair game" (maybe a variable name confusion and/or wrong job). Just my idea.

Blessings and Greetings from Chile

I'm still experiencing this behaviour, each time I open the program.

Sometimes, when I perform the described "work around" procedure, and I close the program and, then, I reopen it... I get sound!!! But, not always.

There should be some wrong thing between MuseScore and Ubuntu ALSA Audio driver (which I use).

Whatever, it is the same with Pulse Audio and Port Audio.

I insist, this seems to be a bug!!!
