Morendo and/or Ritardando
Hi everyone,
I have been writing a piece lately and I tried to find ritardando on Musescore but when that didn't work I used system text, followed by stave text and tried to see if I could add this in by changing the text properties. Turns out none of that worked so I was wondering how I could add a ritardando (and even better, a morendo!) into a piece.
Kind Regards,

For the morendo use the dim. in the lines palette and change the text. Alternately you can enter a velocity change (velocity= volume) though it will have no effect on a single note or tied notes.
For tempo changes use the Tempochanges plugin located at https://musescore.org/en/project/tempochanges
To be clear - adding a ritardando works in the sense that it needs to for a notation program - it appears in your score correctly and the musicians reading it will see it exactly as they should. It does not happen to also affect computer playback unless you set the tempo properties in the Inspector, but gradual changes are not supported. So if you want to hear the computer playback slow down gradually, you can insert multiple such tempo markings, and make all but the first invisible, or use the plugin that that does this automatically.

Why not to add the full playback effect to ritardando and accelerando tempo to MuseScore, directly, not as a plug-in? ???

Someday no doubt this will happen, it's just a bit complex and hasn't made top priority yet.

I blame jeetee for making such a fine plugin.😁

FWIW, it would be quite simple to reproduce that plugin internally. What is complex is making something that would actually work dynamically - so you could for instance later change the tempo or range of notes covered, go in and add or delete notes or measures, etc. This would really require some new data types. Probably akin to the crescendo line, which has start text and then the line itself can be made visible or not, and then has properties controlling the start & end tempo, change rate, etc.

Something similar is what a lot of other MIDI software have been doing since a lot of years!!!
1) A "Tempo Time Line Graphical Panel", with bars and real time x axis, and a tempo y axis, which give us a full flexible line which gives the final playback tempo.
2) A " Expression Time Line Graphical Panel", again... with bars and real time x axis and a velocity (or volume) y axis, which give us a full flexible line which gives the final playback expression of the sound.
This "new" characteristics should be into the Piano Roll Panel of MuseScore.
Of course, the final visual line should be directly connected with the correspondent MIDI commands used into the MuseScore synthesizer and/or external MIDI device.
