Audio Output with MADIface and L-ISA Compatibility

• Feb 14, 2025 - 05:14

I'm in an immersive music composition class in university, and we've been doing a lot of experimenting lately. In this class, we are learning to compose music for audio systems that have enough speakers for spatialized audio (our setup has 26 speakers around the room).

The program we use to control the Spatialization (L-ISA https://www.l-acoustics.com/products/l-isa-controller/) allows for audio input from other programs via use of the MADIface driver and cable (a device that can output 32-64 channels of audio, see this article for more info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MADI).

I think it would be cool if MuseScore could have compatibility with the MADIface system, outputting to many different channels. Allowing the notation software to be used for spatialized immersive compositions.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, let me know if anyone has any questions.
