Add ability to, for 4/4, automatically beam sets of four and two eighth notes, but not triples.
If the user sets 4/4 to beam four eighth notes together, then groups of three eighth notes also get beamed together. The user has to manually separate the extra eighth note on the beat.
If the user sets 4/4 to beam pairs of eighth notes together, then the user has to manually beam sets of four eighth notes together.
Please add the functionality to allow a mix of this behavior, which would allow for automatic beaming of this combination:
1) Four eighth notes across beats 1+2 or 3+4 are beamed together.
2) Pairs of eighth notes on a beat are beamed together.
3) Groups of three eighth notes are not beamed together.
In the screenshot, the top system is the current behavior for three eighth notes if one specifies to beam across four. The bottom system is what one gets if 4/4 is set to beam pairs of eighth notes, and the desired behavior. It would be great to get the behavior in the bottom system automatically, along with beaming sets of four eighth notes together.
Sometimes people do prefer to beam non-triplet three eighth notes together, so it would probably be nice to toggle this functionality on/off.

FWIW, another valid preference is to not beam three eighths together at the start of a four-note grouping, but to allow it at the end The rationale being, the leading rest is sufficient to clue you in that this is not a triplet. Not sure it's worth more options to automate that, but worth mentioning.
I saw Marc's comment in https://musescore.org/en/node/312234 and thought I'd pipe up to say I'd love this too. :-)
