How can I create a single line with 2 separate rhythms in same measure?

I am trying to write a piece that requires the left hand in the piano to play quarter notes while holding a whole note. Every time I try to notate this, musescore will only allow me to have one of the rhythms. How can I notate the two different rhythms?
