Is it possible to overlap notes as to not a measure long?
I made a trill in a song but I didn't like how it sounded. The trill just sounded like a bunch of 16th notes, so I muted the note that made the trill and in the 2nd voice made a bunch of short notes and marked them as invisible, but these make the measure very long, and I can't find anything else about this, so I was wondering if I could somehow make the notes overlap, or even hide them completely.

Add another instrument to your score, put the notes there, then mark it invisible (both adding the instrument and marking it invisible are done in Edit / Instruments). Then it won't affect layout. At least, not if you're using 3.1 beta.
