Currently in MS 3.1, no identifying tags are created when exporting to mp3 or ogg--they are blank. I suggest that Musescore either automatically use the score title and author to generate the title and author mp3/ogg tags when exporting, or better yet, pop up a simple tag editor, with the title and author fields filled in, in case the user wants to add or edit the tags before exporting, similar to Audacity's export mp3 tag editor.
Comments
More specifically, I propose that the audio tags be generated from "Scores Properties" to avoid the need for a separate mp3/ogg tag editor dialogue. See related request for musescore.com: https://musescore.com/groups/improving-musescore-com/discuss/5042399
The tag editor would be a problem when mp3 conversion is invoked from the command line. Getting the metadata from "Score Properties" is the right thing (although I have found that few posters to the site bother to set them).
I suggested this four years ago here to no effect: https://musescore.org/en/node/52886 .
Not an expert, but could the Kid3 project be useful here?
It would be really nice to have the meta data from "Score Properties" at least partially in a ID3v2.4 tag inside the mp3. Audio file are made to share (otherwise people could use MuseScore to play the score), so I would like to tell what I share. A filename may be descriptive but it will be invisble in many cases and can not tell what an ID3v2.4 tag can tell. This is way more important if you export the score written by someone else to audio and share it.
I regularly create MP3 export files... They help students practice after choir lessons. The feature would be really helpful to distinguish the files on playback.
