Multi-measure chord symbols within one measure
How do I notate within a single measure that I would like to have one chord change repeated for x number of measures. For example , if I were writing this out by hand I would have a measure with A-7 and below it - within the measure - I would write "--8--" to indicate that A-7 should be played for 8 measures. Thank you for any replies!

The usual way of doing this would simply be to have eight regular measures, with A-7 above the first one. In a few special cases such as the solo section of a lead sheet I might consider turning on multimeasure rests (press "M") to produce a notation like you suggest, but I much prefer eight regular measures (filled with slashes in this case, using Tools / Fill with Slashes).
