Which version of MuseScore are you running? On which Operating System (Windows? Mac?)
Did you install any other soundfont or MDL?
Does it change anything if you use Page View mode?
In order to understand and assist, we'd need you to explain the specific problems in more detail. If there is a score that doesn't playback, please attach it.
If by "switching on" you mean the initial startup of MuseScore, then this is most likely due to having large soundfonts (eg, from MDL) installed. That's not new, it's been that way forever. If you don't need those soundfonts loaded, you can delete them via View / Synthesizer.
