Deleting unwanted notes from score

• Jul 27, 2019 - 06:05

When I input a note, sometimes the program does not know which octave I mean. How do I get rid of the unwanted note? How do I avoid this problem without adding the note manually?
Also, How do I choose a file? I have tried dragging and dropping as well as choose a file. nothing happens. I'm sure it is easy, but it beats me.

Raymond is correct that the handbook is your best tool, but there are people here who will help you.

MuseScore put a note mostly in the closest octave to the last note, though there is a bug if you do a clef change the octave will sometimes jump in the first note of a measure. If the note is in the wrong octave, use ctrl+up or down arrow to change octaves. So the answer, is just move the unwanted note. You'll get used to doing this.

I'm not sure what you mean about choosing a file. Use the File->Open menu and navigate your computer like in any other program and select the score you want to use. You can drag a file to the MuseScore icon or double click the score you want to use and it will open MuseScore if needed and show you that score. If this doesn't help explain better or attach a score where this doesn't work.

Finally, in the tools menu there is a command Remove empty trailing measures. This became available in version 3, everything else applies to both version 2 & 3.
