how can i split alto from suprano so that each parts takes their notes on the stave?

I'm not sure to understand.....you want alto like soprano, simply copy and paste....
You can add a staff below the alto and use tools explode on the alto staff and chords will be split between the two staves.
Or maybe you are wondering how to write both parts on one staff? See the Handbook under "Voices".
