Adding climbing notes to a whole note

Hi, I've been trying to add three "climbing down" notes to my whole note but it won't allow me. Basically, I want to play and hold my whole note E for the whole measure, but also play a D, C, and G on counts 2, 3, 4. I have not found a way to do this yet. Please help?
