Downloaded latest update; now Musescore 'crashing' on opening

Since downloading the latest update, whenever I open Musescore through the shortcut, it says that my last session closed unexpectedly and asks whether I want to restore it, but immediately closes no matter which answer I choose.

The solution posted here (opening via a saved score) works, but I'm wondering if there's a fuller fix.
