non-erasable rests in choral score
I cannot seem to erase the whole-bar rests in this score. It is a hymn, with 4 voices, but an extra set of rests appears in every measure, somehow attached to voice 1. I cannot figure out how to get rid of it. Any advice?

Every staff needs notes in voice 1. The voices are not vocal voices but rather musical voices. Always put Soprano and tenor in voice 1 then alto and bass in voice 2 for their respective staves. Only use voices 3 & 4 in complex keyboard or guitar music.
To fix this, exchange voices 1 & 3 then voices 2 & 4, then delete all of the rests in voices 3 & 4 that will be left in the TB staff.

Thanks Mike! That makes sense. I'll reassign S&T to V1, and A&B to V2 -- and set things up that way in future. Most grateful for your timely and effective advice!
