Palette Not Displaying

I'm working on a score which I've been doing for some time, and the palette has always displayed at the left hand side of the manuscript. This evening it has suddenly disappeared, and although I've checked to see that 'view palette' is ticked, it still doesn't appear. How do I resolve this?
