Ottava 8va diagnal shape (up and down)
In m. 4, I need to add symbol of ottava 8va for left hand. Musescore does not allow me to put one ottava 8va with both up and down diagonal shapes. I have to put twice in the measure. How can I make the number 8 of the second octave 8va invisible? Or How can I put one ottava 8va with both up and down diagonal shapes? See Attached file. Thanks!

You can select the ottava, select the text in Begin text and delete it. The default is
<sym>ottava</sym>
I would enter a single ottava in the left hand and make it invisible (select it and press v). The pianist will know the ottava above the top line of music applies to both lines of music in that staff. You only need the extra ottava for playback.

Thanks for your reply. Since you mentioned "The pianist will know the ottava above the top line of music applies to both lines of music in that staff." I have a question about proper music writing.
Attached is Hanon piano exercise (Almost every pianist uses this book for improving technique). In m. 4 and 5, for left hand, it is also marked ottava 8va.
Is the marking (ottava 8va) for left hand required to be there as the proper marking in the composition?
Thanks,

I guess that since it is a practice book the publisher decided to use the unusual notation of adding the extra ottavas to make sure the student understood that the notes are also played an octave higher. In my opinion this causes confusion for the student later when he or she doesn't see the ottava on the cross staff notes.
If your goal is to render the exercise as it is written in the book, you can delete the ottava text as I indicated above. I usually try to keep scores I copy look as much as possible like the original and I would include the redundant ottava and delete the text.
