When using musescore for a couple minutes my shortcuts to delete measures on a MAC stop working. That includes right clicking a new menu. I have to close the score and restart the program until it allows me to delete a measure.

It sounds like Mac is intercepting the shortcuts and not allowing MuseScore to use them. I don't use a Mac though.
Possibly you have some other utility running on your computer that is stealing the keyboard or mouse input. If you continue to have this problem and figure out what is causing it, I encourage you to ask for help on the Support forum here, or on a general macOS support forum somewhere - the problem likely has nothing to do with MsueScore specifically.
This is something that has occasionally been reported so if you find a cause and/or solution letting us know would be appreciated.
