Open hi-hat: cross with an "o" on top (yes, again :))
I know this has been a discussion for over a decade now, but the fact that once every couple of years some drummer opens the discussion again probably means
"Come on Musescore, stop arguing about it, just get it over with now!" :)
To summarize: every drummer I know (and every somewhat modern drum book I've ever used) uses a regular cross with an "o" on top of it to indicate an open hi-hat.
In Musescore you need to use a work-around to get this done, since standard hi-hat notation in Musescore (and Sibelius, and ...) is still notated as a regular cross, or in the best case as some other notehead.
Ok, I get that Sibelius and all the older programs are still doing this, but come on guys, we're 2019 now.
Sure, there's still some people notating it the other way, but finding a way to automate the modern notation would be a big help for a lot of drummers.
We use it quite a lot, and the fact that this discussion keeps coming up every couple of years should mean something, no?
That being said, thanks for all the work guys. I love Musescore, the elegant and flexible interface, the community, ...
It's truly amazing what you guys & girls made and I'm very grateful for that.
Enjoy your holidays!
