Two parts with the same notes?

• Jan 9, 2020 - 02:13

Is it possible to make a part that has the same notes as another, in an intentional, not extentional, sense?
Example: great bass recorder is usually written in bass clef, but some people prefer it in treble.
Example: renaissance music for viol consort uses alto and tenor clef, but if you play the same music on recorders you'd like only treble & bass clef.
Of course I can copy all the notes but then if I make a correction I have to remember to do it twice.
It would be so nice if I could have two parts that share notes, and only differ in their clef or other happenstance.

This is like a hearing-challenged person's colla parte feature! The "linked staff" business does this for tab and regular-notation staves. Extending it to staves that differ by clef or some other artifact would be an avenue for exploration (for the design community). Then you just extend it to include channel and patch among the staff features that differ, hide staves, and we have the beginning of a colla parte feature.

But that doesn't help the OP any, for whom the correct response is "not now".
