More than 1 hairpin on one note

I think it would be useful to have the ability to add more than 1 hairpin on different parts of the duration of the note. Let me elaborate with an example.

Say you have a half-note. I want to notate it so that it crescendos for the first half and decrescendos for the second half. Currently, I don't think there is a way to do that unless you drag the hairpins individually. If you divide the note into 2 quarter notes each, add the right hairpin for each one, and then elongate the first note, the 2nd (decrescendo) hairpin disappears. I think it would be more convenient to add more than one to a single note.
