3.4.1 Drum Note Input with Mouse

While trying to input drum notation, I've come across an annoying issue, or maybe a new feature. When I select a different sound to use (e.g. snare, kick, hi-hat), it places this into a beat automatically, occasionally messing up the whole drum part or requiring me to fix up beats, etc. In prior versions of Musescore 3, this wouldn't happen when using mouse input, as you would select the not and input from there, rather than selecting a note and having it automatically input with whatever duration is locked in on top. I've checked preferences for a fix and haven't found anything so any ideas would be helpful and appreciated.

For reference, I'm using Windows Musescore 64bit: 3.4.1 on an MSI laptop with a standard USB QWERTY keyboard from Logitech.
