Project
To reproduce this issue:
1) Place the Swing text at the beginning of a piece.
2) Place the Straight text anywhere after.
3) Place repeating eighth notes in both sections
After the Swing text is placed, the rest of the piece will be swung, even if there is the Straight text.

The Straight system text is configured to deactivate Swing, unfortunately, deactivate does not change the actual configuration.
To be sure to pass in Straight mode :
Check the box "Swing Settings"
And in "Swing:" check "Off"
This will pass in Straight mode.
Came up again in https://musescore.org/en/node/301114
IMV, the "Swing Settings" check-box could be removed, since the swing status should be apparent from the other display options.
No, without that option checked the correspoding text is not a swing text, so neither switches Swing on nor off
Maybe I'm missing something, but this is working exactly as designed as far as I can tell. It's crucial that the default settings in this dialog do nothing. not to enable swing, not to disable it, but to do nothing. otherwise, every text element you added would have the side effect of disabling swing So there needs to be a way to distinguish the "do nothing" default from "turn off swing". And that is exactly what the checkbox does.
So, for most text you add, the checkbox is off, meaning, no effect on swing. But if you want an element to specific change the playback to straight, you need to be sure the checkbox is enabled so there is an effect on swing, but the radio button is set to off, so that is the effect.
Just to clarify, we are talking specifically about "Straight" text applied from the "Text" palette of the Advanced workspace (you may need to click on "More" to see it). It should be set up, by default, to countermand a previous swing indication but it is not working.
Ah, I wasn't aware such text existed. Now I see it, and indeed, it's not set up properly.
My fault from #297329: Add a Straight (tempo) text to the master palette, so a brown paper bag for me :-/
Thanks
