Depending on which text there's loads of options.
But anything from a text frame to a staff text will do

Thanks. Meanwhile, by chance i found that i could highlight the tempo marking and then bring it under the text i had and put it above the staff.
General instructions definitely should be added in a separate frame (or text within the title frame) not as staff text. You shouldn't need to resort to manual adjustments for things like this. That generally indicates you are using the wrong type of element, and it's the sort of thing that probably will not look correct if the layout of your score changes in the future.
