1) Connect a midi device using musescore
2) Option does not appear in prefrences to select the new midi device

Did you connect it before starting MuseScore as per the Handbook? Does the device have a driver for the same architecture as you are using for MuseScore (32 vs 64 bit)?

Best to ask for help on the forum for things like this, lots more people who know how to debug system-specific stuff like this. be sure to say which version of MuseScore, and what OS.
