notehead shapes
When using the Aikin 7 notehead scheme, and I have 2 voices singing the same FA, how do I change it so it doesn't look like a LA. The way Musescore takes the two triangles of the FA and puts them together looks exactly like a LA. If I make one of them white, the little piece of the stem also disappears. If I make one of them invisible, the little piece of the stem also becomes invisible

Select one of the notes and adjust the x offset for the CHORD in the inspector (so the stem will follow). That way the notes won't look wrong.

Thank you. That does help. It makes it look a lot better. I'm used to the two FA's being merged (although one of them has to be backwards then). But this is a lot better than having them look like a LA.

Offset is a method used in standard notation to make it obvious which notes are dotted and which are not if there is a possibility for confusion.
Another thing you could do is select one of the noteheads and press shift+x (once or twice) until the notehead moves to the other side of the stem. Sometimes the offset notes can be as confusing as the FA looking like a LA.
Can you post an example? Normally MuseScore does merge matching noteheads unless the durations differ - is that the case here? If so, set the head type of one explicitly to match the other. But, in that case, marking the notehead invisible should also work, that doesn't normally affect the stem at all.

I inserted an example. In no. 1, the two FA's merge into one and look like a LA. That's too confusing.
In no. 2, I separated them, so that's acceptable (barely).
In no. 3, I made one of the noteheads invisible. See how the piece of the stem also disappears?
In no. 4, I made one of the noteheads white, and the piece of the stem is also white.
FA is the only note for which this happens, because all the other shaped notes are symmetrical and can be flipped to merge. FA cannot. In the music notation I am used to for vocal singing, the FA stays the same as voice 1, and the stem goes up for voice one on the right side of the notehead, and down for voice 2 on the left side of the notehead.

It seems you attached a picture, what we really need is an actual score in order to understand what is actually going on.

Ok here's a Musescore file with the same 4 examples.

OK, now I see, thanks for the example. The issue with making the head invisible is that the stem actually stops at the edge of the notehead. So the workaround is to apply an offset of around 1sp to the stem. Probably there could be some way for us to detect and special-case this situation so the adjustment happens automatically. I suggest you file a formal report to the issue tracker, attaching this score and your description of the problem.
