Deleting staves
My score (attached) is based on the SATB choral template. At one place in the score (bars 49 to 80) I have a flute duet using the Soprano and Alto staves. The Tenor and Bass staves are not used for 32 bars, then the vocal parts return using all four staves.
Is it possible to delete the two blank T and B staves between bars 49 and 80 to save space?

You can not delete part of a stave but you can hide it when it is empty. See here: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/staff-part-properties#common-staff-pr… and look down to "hide when empty".

Thanks Steve
I have tried this method. It does hide the staves but not the full height bracket with the four singers' initials, so there is no space gain.

I don't understand what you say you are seeing. If I check "Hide empty staves within systems" in Format>Style>Score, when there are two empty staves the brackets only span the remaining two stave. This is also what I see when I look at Claudio's version where he has done the same thing. Are you seeing something different when you try that with your original version?
If you don't want to see the bracket even when there are four non-empty staves, just click on it and delete it.
Salve,
è questo che volevi? (Vedi allegato).
Naturalmente bisogna impaginare meglio...
Buona musica.
