Make a score only as few pages as possible

• Sep 30, 2020 - 14:24

Hello. We have a choir score but it fills 9 pages. I would like it on fewer pages, but how. I think the distance between the notes could be reduced, and may be the notes could be a little smaller.
I sing the tenor part, and would like to have my score alone, but when I do that the text comes into the notes.

You can open Format->Page settings and reduce the scaling but I suspect that might the time you get fewer pager will be too small. BTW, when I opened the score it had 7 pages I'm not sure why, mine showed it on A4 paper.

One common thing I've seen in scores like this is to only put the lyrics in the first 2 or 3 verses then list additional lyrics at the end of the song. You can copy all of the lyrics to the keyboard at once (menu Tools->Copy lyrics to clipboard), put it into an editor that does not word wrap, format the verses you want at the end in that then paste them into a text frame at the end of the song. You can do this along with reducing the scaling less so everything is more readable and I think you can get a page layout you like.

When I used File->Parts and created all parts, the tenor part looked fine with nothing overlapping. It was also on 2 pages.

The notes are so far apart because there are so few measures on a staff. When you reduce the scaling, this will improve and is probably the best method to improve this score. You can select the entire score (press ctrl+a) press { up to about 10 times to see if this pushes the notes closer together so more measures will be on a staff. This is called reducing the stretch and there are menu options for this also.
