Octaves

Hi,

I'm composing in the treble clef for a harp. I inserted an E for the right hand and an E below for the left hand. I wanted the note stem for the higher E to go up and the note stem for the lower E to face down. However, the program is creating an octave with both notes connected with my only choice being to choose the octave note stem up or down. It's not meant to be read as an octave since each hand is playing a note. Is there a fix and if so, what would that be?
