Update has stopped headphones working!
- Installed MuseScore on my new laptop. Discovered that it will not feed playback sound through my headphones.
- Checked back on old laptop, everything fine.
- Updated MuseScore to latest version (3.5.2.311459983) on old laptop. Now headphones do not work on that one either.
Obviously a bug in new version. Anything I can tweak or do I have to wait for next update?

Check the settings in Edit > Preferences > I/O. And/or toggle the Midi button

OK I see the MIDI button now but it makes no difference

Try this: goto Edit/Preferences/I-O and press the button "Restart Audio and MIDI Devices"

Ha, ha, Jojo, you was faster ;-)
Thanks guys but no luck. Tried the Restart button with no effect. I can't see a MIDI button as such. There's a MIDI output box but nothing in its dropdown at all.

It is the button on the toolbar, looking like a 5 pin DIN connector
See https://musescore.org/en/faq#faq-301733 and check all of the things mentioned there
None of the suggestions so far make any difference. I repeat that this has suddenly happened with the installation of the latest update. Sound through the computer itself is unaffected but it will not play through the headphones. Plugging the phones in does not even switch off the internal speakers as it does for any other app.

Does plugging in the headphones before starting MuseScore help?
What is set as the PortAudio device in Edit > Preferences > I/O?
I guess it is "Speaker" but should rather be "Microsoft Soundmapper - Output"

Thanks. First I tried starting with the cans plugged in - and it worked. However, when I unplugged them, the program crashed. However, then I tried your second suggestion - Soundmapper Output - and it seems to have done the trick. Strange, though, that this update seems to have caused such confusion. Never had a problem like that before on update,
