More Fretboard Diagram Placement Options

• Nov 7, 2020 - 18:16

Hi, I have a well formatted score to which I'd like to add fretboard diagrams. There is space in the score (single staff jazz score with jazz chords) to add fretboard diagrams following each chord, which would cause the minimum disruption to carefully chosen formatting (fitting the piece on three pages, each section taking one page, etc). Is there either a way to keep autoplacement turned off while the diagrams are added so that nothing is mobile except the fretboard diagrams whole they're put in place? Alternatively could a placement option of "Alongside" be added which would mean "place a fretboard diagram next to a preceding chord"?

I'm not quite picturing what you mean, unless you literally want the diagrams to overlap each other or other things in the score, disabling autoplace would not be a good thing, Can you attach a sample score so we can understand and assist better?

Oh, wow, that's really strange looking to me. Are you saying you've seen this in published music and checked with other guitarists to be sure they would understand it? To me it looks like two separate chords; I've never seen this notation before. What is the [perceived advantage of this? I guess you mean if you did it for every chord, it would take less space vertically, at the expense of much more space horizontally?

But anyhow, it's simple enough to create this, just move the chord symbol manually in the places you want this. If it's a lot of them, or all of them, you could automate the process by customizing the chord symbol text style
