unchecking play box does nothing

• Nov 25, 2020 - 13:24

i'm writing a chime/tubular bells part and want wind chime notation on the same staff, so i'm writing the notes for the wind chime on the staff and unchecking the play box in the inspector so that they dont play, but they play anyways. every other time i've unchecked the play box in this way the note does not play, but now it does. any help?

It sounds like your doing something besides what you are saying. Please attach a sample score and tell us where the problem is so we can help you better.

ok, i'll attach one for you. i've checked, and i have the very latest version of musescore. i've tested this specific score, and unchecking the "play" box will not stop the note from playing a sound. (this isn't the score with the cime part btw; the problem persisted in both scores)

OK... you attached a sample score of thirty instruments per system, 3 pages of music
To save time, please mention for which note head (and instrument) did you uncheck 'Play"?

Works for me and everyone else so far, so please be more (actually very) specific as to which note (exactly) does play regardless of being set to not play.
Best provide a simple sample score that demonstrates the issue.
Like the attached, which demonstrates that this indeed does work (at least it does here)

when i uncheck ANY note on ANY staff it still plays

Somehow I was under the impression you were *writing a chime/tubular bells part and want wind chime notation on the same staff, so you're writing the notes for the wind chime on the staff and unchecking the play box in the inspector so that they don't play".

I have no idea why I would think that. ;-)
