repeats revisited
hi, I asked a question about repeats a while back and got good advice here. I've tried to answer my current question reading docs and watching videos, but haven't figured it out yet, so I thought I'd try asking here again.
I'd like to score a song with the following structure:
Intro
Verse (1st ending)
Verse (2nd ending)
Bridge
Verse (2nd ending)
Bridge
Verse
Coda
Can I do this in musescore writing the verse only once? How many voltas do I need? My naive plan is:
Intro
(Segno)
||: Verse (with a "to Coda" on the last measure before the voltas) | volta 1 :|| volta 2,3 || bridge
some combination of D.S and D.S. al Coda
Coda
On my second attempt I seem to have gotten this to work (see attached).
I feel as though I may have lucked out on the order of the D.S. and the D.S. al Coda. I added them in that order and the D.S. is at the bottom, the D.S. al Coda at the top. Can I change the order of these? (I seem to have gotten them the wrong way around in the real piece I'm working on.)

You don't need the D.S. and the D.S. al Coda, in fact it may cause problems. Just use the D.S. al coda and it looks like it will work the way you describe.

Thanks, Mike, I tried removing the D.S. and will attach the result, which plays measures
1 2 3
2 4 5
2 6
(as opposed to the first version posted, which plays the measures as I intended:
1 2 3
2 4 5
2 4 5
2 6).
Incidentally I have a slightly different problem in my "real" piece: volta 1 is getting repeated after the D.S. I can try adjusting as you've suggested here, but since that seems to have the wrong result in this tiny toy example, I think I will wait first until I understand more.

I believe this is what you described

Thanks, Mike! Yes, that appears to do the trick in this case and it's a helpful inspiration.
In my real case the bridge happens effectively in bar 5 of your example and currently includes 4 bars repeated twice. So I would either have to write those 8 bars out and endure the repetition or come up with an approach using DS ... to get the same effect.
I think I'll use your approach for now and ponder whether there is another way.
I have run into this proscription against nesting repeats before and a quick search yields some more helpful sources:
