I can attach a pdf, which looks good but won’t print correctly. By some mysterious process I could save as .ps which prints properly but will not attach
Are you on macOS? And using an HP LaserJet Pro, connected via AirPlay? In that case it seems a known problem with their drivers. Solution is to not use AirPrint when using that specific printer. Or, switch to a different music font within MuseScore (Format / General / Score) - only Leland appears to trigerr this particular bug. Still not clear if it's Apple's fault or HP's.

Don't use a PDF printer (Quartz in this case) use File > Export > PDF instead
Thank you but it still printed wrong
If I uninstall, reinstall will I lose all my files... seems likely
I didn’t have this issue until the last update
Uninstall and reinstall won't touch your existing scores. It probably won't help either though. Sample score is still needed...
I have no idea how I can attach a .mscx
