Cannot save black MIDI online

• Apr 14, 2021 - 03:52

I have a ~6.77 MB Black MIDI .mscz file and want to publish it on the site. However, when I upload it, the base file is called " .mscz" and saving it leaves a blank screen with no score. Help!!!

See this score to see what is going on.

It's not really clear what you are asking about - you are trying to upload a MIDI file to musescore.com? That would be supported But maybe you are saying the file name has the word MIDI in? That shouldn't be a problem, but spaces in filenames do cause problems in any number of situations, since some filesystems can't handle them and neither can web URL's. So maybe try renaming the file to a more universally legal filename before uploading.

from wikipedia:
"Black MIDI is a music genre consisting of compositions that use MIDI files to create a song or a remix containing a large number of notes, typically in the thousands, millions, billions, or even trillions. People who make black MIDIs are known as blackers. However, there are no specific criteria of what is considered "black"; as a result, finding an exact origin of black MIDI is impossible."
...
"The term "Black MIDI" is derived from how there are so many notes in each piece that the score would look nearly black (or would look really black) on traditional sheet music."

In my personal opinion: In a classical musical notation program, such notation makes no sense.

If you want to fill the RAM of the computer and test the limits of the software, maybe you can use it for testing purposes.

But I guess it would be a little silly to publish it as a note. Because it will not make sense for the one who will read it. Keeping it in its original format, ie Midifile, is the most meaningful thing.
