Musescore and display size
Mostly I use MuseScore on a desktop machine - with large screen displays. Sometimes I use a laptop, such as a 13 inch MacBook Pro.
Some of the components of MS are quite hard to use on a 13 inch display - for example the mixer which shows the instruments playing. There is a scroll bar on the right hand side, but the layout puts the instrument name at the bottom, with the Solo and Mute buttons at the top. Even though it is possible to detach the Mixer window, it may still be hard to move it to a location where both the top and bottom are visible. It would make sense for all the features needed to be seen or work together to be either at the top, or the bottom. The actual slider in the middle of the mixer could easily be compressed, or replaced by a knob. Although I probably prefer sliders, they don't work well on a small screen, so a knob, or even just a number would be much easier for saving screen estate.
Also while pointing this out - and I think there are issues with other MS components for small displays, given that Apple has recently introduced new M1 based laptops - which I hear are very good, how well would MS go on either the 13 inch model, or the 16 inch model?
While the performance of software might be significantly better, if software such as MuseScore is still going to be awkward to control because of constraints on screen size and the way the program lays out visual components - perhaps even with the 16 inch model, I would personally then prefer to get either a new and expensive desktop, or a Mac Mini with a large screen, or wait another year or two.
