The squiggley arpeggio symbol
I am struggling with the squiggly arpeggio symbol usage.
I am trying to use one symbol across both a bass and a treble clef, I believe that it indicates that both hands are to be sequentially arpeggiated, within a single beat. See the attached example file: "Screen shot for arpeggio.jpg". Looking at the second system on the screen shot the arpeggio is extended across both clefs. Is this doable?
What happens to me is that if I arpeggiate the lower clef then try to stretch the symbol to both clefs the staff for the bass clef keeps shifting up and down and the arpeggio symbol is shortened to just miss including the treble clef portion of the notes.
If I try selecting all six notes in question (3 on each clef), shown by a blue outline box and applying an arpeggio symbol then I get two short and unconnected arpeggio symbols.
My goal with this use of the feature is to create a six note chord played as a quickly built up sequence of the six notes, one after the next, within one beat.
Can Musescore be instructed to play an arpeggio across the bass and treble clefs? If so, how can I enter it into a score?
Thank-you,
Cliff

Thank-you again for your prompt reply.
I am still having troubles with the treble and bass clefs separating to make room. If I turn off the "auto placement for the arpeggio mark the clefs are behaving as expected, especially when crossing a hairpin mark, but that occasionally leaves me with some horizontal spacing issues. I think I can manage though. It is certainly behaving much closer to what I was expecting now.
The playback function does not seem to always play the arpeggio effect (only twice in a piece that has about 30 or so arpeggios). I will play with it and see if I can sort out the interaction that is affecting this.
Thank-you
Cliff

As explained in the article linked, don't stretch the symbol - that won't work (or will appear to but have exactly the issues you are seeing). Instead, do as the article advised: press Shift+Down to extend the arpeggio down. This works perfectly for the display. Playback is still not supported.

Thank-you Marc. I will try that option a.s.a.p.
(Initially I missed the sentence about starting on the treble clef & working down.)
I need to slow down a bit in order to speed up.

Firstly, thank-you for your assistance.
Here is what I did:
I went back into the sheet music and deleted and replaced all the arpeggios. I selected any of the notes in a treble clef chord, clicked on the arpeggio symbol in the pallettes, selected the bottom handle of the newly inserted arpeggio symbol and typed a shifted down arrow (momentary press). For the most part it worked well.
Here is what I found:
1) The arpeggio seems to stumble on a chord with mixed voices. If I needed to use Voice 2 (at the bottom of a bass clef chord), then the lower part of the 'stretched' arpeggio will not include the lower part of the bass clef chord. See attached jpeg file: Arpeggio 1.jpg If however if the chords on the treble & bass clefs contain (top to bottom) V1 notes, V2 Notes and V1 notes at the bottom, then the arpeggio + Sh. down arrow will pickup the whole piar of chords. See attached jpeg file: Arpeggio 2.jpg. I manually added an arpeggio to Voice 2 notes and shifted it up to look like one arpeggio.
Note: In muse score I selected/highlighted the area I wanted to show so that the Voice 1 notes show blue and the Voice 2 notes show green.
2) The arpeggio will run right through a natural 'accidental' symbol. I got around this by leaving the arpeggio's 'automatic placement' property turned on and just shifted it left 0.5 sp or 1.0 sp until the arpeggio cleared the natural accidental symbol.
3) The last thing I found was that the arpeggio does appear to be implemented in the playback, but maybe could use a little tweeking if there is enough need. I found that it appears to be implemented in playback visual and playback audio. In the playback visual if you use the arpeggio "Stretch" property and change the value from 1.0 to 3.0, you can actually see the notes played from bottom to top, individually. With the Stretch property set back to 1.0 the playback audio can usually be heard if the notes do not have a lot of energy applied to them (i.e.: pianissimo, not accented, etc) you can actually hear some of the notes of the arpeggio played individually. If the notes should play louder (i.e.: fortissimo, accented, etc.) then I can not detect the individual notes. (I am 70 years old, maybe that is part of the problem - the hearing is not what it used to be.)
So, in summary, thank-you for your help. I now know how to implement the arpeggio in my sheet music and it works in most cases. Again, yet another feature that you folks have implemented.
Thank-you,
Cliff
